Memory Lapses

Memory lapses.

Waves break and surge into stillness,

I slip through sands and

Awaken deep

Beneath the undertow

Where currents spurt and spew

Like a newborn baby.

I coalesce into new life

Not by the light from the sun

But by the heat of my core.

-

Human time is too brief

Placed in the checkout line so soon.

Hard to keep track of anything but the tabloids...

Burning Bush Speaks to Man : Man Takes Off  Shoes.

Mind too confined

To comprehend the soaring daydream

The comic tragedrama,

But finding relief all the same.

In a confessional, in a urinal.

-

I gather up my belongings and drive on,

Riding into the sunset,

Glare in my eyes,

Towards death,

That most cliche of endings.

Which begs the question,

When I die, will the credits roll?

Will anyone in the audience applaud?

Do I care

So long as there are

Memory lapses,

Waves breaking,

Surging into stillness.

Slipping through sands and awakening

Deep beneath the undertow

Where currents spurt and spew

Like a newborn baby
